Christopher Columbus was a rapist, a murderer, and a tyrant, and is responsible for the Atlantic slave trade and genocide against indigenous people. So rather than have a day honoring the 500 years of colonial oppression that he spearheaded, we think it's long past time to celebrate the indigenous people whose land he stole and their resiliency in the face of oppression instead.
