New Yorkers are struggling with the rising cost of living. Even families earning a decent wage are having trouble making ends meet. The Working Families Tax Credit would be a lifeline to families and make it possible for New Yorkers to do more than just survive.

The benefit would combine and strengthen two existing tax credits into one more inclusive and effective benefit. It shares many characteristics of the discontinued expanded Child Tax Credit, which cut child poverty nationally by 30%.
