Mayor Adams: Don’t Raise Our Rents!

Eric Adams is raising the rents while New Yorkers struggle in a city that’s already deeply unaffordable. The Mayor’s hand-picked Rent Guidelines Board will vote on whether or not to raise the rents of rent-stabilized tenants this June. Rent hikes are only going to fuel homelessness, displacement, and push more families to the edge.

Mayor Adams can either stand with tenants — or stand on the side of big real estate.

Last year, Mayor Adams’ Rent Guidelines Board voted for the highest rent increase in a decade. Despite New York City’s budget surplus, the Mayor has put forward a budget that will cut critical investments in housing and education, and now he wants to raise our rents again.

New Yorkers deserve more. Over 2 million New Yorkers live in rent-stabilized housing. None of us can afford a Mayor who puts real estate over tenants.
